10 Ways to Keep Warm During Winter

JAN

When it’s below freezing outside and you can’t possibly keep yourself warm without blowing up your heating bill, here’s some ways to keep warm.

  1. Extra blankets – pile those blankets on top of you until you are basically a mountain of fabric.
  2. Cuddle a pet – Never underestimate how warm a pet can be, the fluffier the better (but always let them go if they don’t like it.)
  3. Use a space heater. These portable heaters are great for heating small rooms such as a bedroom.
  4. If you have the ability to only heat one room, block the door ways by hanging sheets so all the heat stays in one central room.
  5. Keep your head, hands and feet warm. Heat often escapes more from these body parts than others
  6. Move around. If you are sitting in one place – wathcing TV or reading a book – You’ll feel the cold much quicker than if you were doing an activity that involves using your hands or walking around.
  7. Wash your dishes by hand instead of putting them in the dishwasher. The hot water will warm you up.
  8. Drink coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or soup. The heat from the liquids will warm you up. Be careful not to burn your tongue.
  9. Block cracks in windows and doors with towels. Cold air will often flood through small cracks in windows and doors, plus they are portals to the outdoors with no insulation to keep the warm in and the cold out.
  10. Stay away from shovelling your driveway. That terrible job will make you cold, wet and miserable. Let Plow Connect do that for you.
